Event Rules

On-Track Rules & Etiquette

  • No Dirt Drops: Driving off the paved track is strictly prohibited. This includes using cones, barriers, and tire walls as clipping points. There is a single-warning rule for this. If you do it again, you'll be asked to leave. This isn't a joke—it's about safety and track preservation.

  • Clean Up Your Mess: Pack out what you bring in. This includes used tires, broken bumpers, oil containers, zip ties, and anything else you generate. If you want to be welcomed back, you need to clean up after yourself.

  • Cold Zones are Cold Zones: If you are caught doing anything reckless or dangerous in a cold zone, you will be told to leave immediately, with no exceptions. There’s plenty of time on the track to get your adrenaline out.

  • Safety First: Keep your limbs inside the vehicle at all times. Drivers are responsible for their passengers. Everyone must wear a T-shirt, pants, and closed-toe shoes. Passengers must also follow the same helmet requirements as drivers.

  • Lend a Hand: At the end of every drift day, a cleanup crew will be out. We're all in this together, so please give them a hand.

Poor behavior will not be tolerated. The event organizers and facility owners have the final say. Depending on the severity of your actions, you may be asked to leave and not return until you've completed a full volunteer day at a Bold Connections Drift Alliance event.

Basic Vehicle Requirements

Your car will be inspected before you hit the track. Make sure it meets these basic requirements:

  • No Leaks: Your car must be free of any fluid leaks.

  • Electrical: All wiring must be tidy. Backyard wiring jobs will be thoroughly inspected.

  • Wheels: All wheel studs and lug nuts must be in place.

  • Battery: The battery must be securely mounted, with the positive terminal adequately covered. If your battery is relocated, you must have a minimum 150-amp fuse breaker and an on/off switch within the driver’s reach or on the exterior of the car in the proper under-windshield position.

  • Windshield: Your windshield must not have any vision-impairing cracks or significant spiderwebbing.

  • Heat Shielding: If your turbo or turbo manifold is close to your brake master cylinder, an adequate heat shield is required.

  • Fire Extinguisher: Your car must have at least a 5-pound fire extinguisher (highly recommended) or a fire stick. It must be securely mounted with a metal mount within the driver’s reach. Plastic mounts are not allowed.

  • Lights: Brake lights and headlights must be working.

  • Seatbelts & Harnesses: Vehicles must have adequate seat belts. Improperly mounted harnesses will be rejected.

  • Steering & Seating: Your steering wheel and seats must be secure.

  • Harness Bars: Stand-alone harness bars are not allowed. Harnesses must be properly mounted to a harness bar that is securely welded between two vertical tubes of a main hoop, which is also securely welded to the floor. No exceptions.

  • Full Cage Rules: For all cage rules, please refer to our competition tech requirements or the 2023-24 Formula Drift rulebook, section 2.2 under “Chassis”.

Driver & Passenger Requirements

  • Helmets: A SA2015 or newer Snell helmet is mandatory. It must be in good condition and free of cracks. ECE and DOT helmets are no longer accepted, with no exceptions.

  • Clothing: Everyone must wear pants, a T-shirt, and closed-toe shoes at a minimum.

  • Tandem Etiquette: If you do not wish to tandem, simply let the start line official know, or turn on your hazard lights to signal the driver behind you. We are all here to learn and have a good time, so let’s respect each other.

Convertibles

  • All convertibles must have a basic roll bar construction, including a main hoop, harness bar, diagonal support, and rear stays.

  • An OEM latching hardtop is permitted but must be genuine.

Waiver Information

All drivers must sign a waiver before participating. You can find the waiver in the event description where you purchased your ticket.
